March Misc.

Here are some more things that happened this month:

Monty showing Grandpop a Minecraft video

We had a second Mardi Gras Sunday dinner, since some family members weren't there for the first one

Grandpop made a king cake

Juno loves her little cat bed from Grammy

Oliver sleeping on Paws

He must have heard me because he started peeking

One big change this month was having Max out and about the house all the time since Juno needed the master bedroom to herself while she was healing. He's been doing ok so far, so the plan is to keep things like this since Juno seems to enjoy having her own space.

Looks like Oliver has some competition for Paws

Max also loves the Love Sac, and is not scared of falling into the middle - he LOVES the middle, lol

While Nora and I were on our Best Friends trip, we missed the Chinese New Year Sunday dinner. Ben was even visiting that weekend. Mike had the idea that it would be fun to make place cards with everyone's Chinese Zodiac animal on them, so I made those before we left.

I made a separate page with the family members that weren't at the dinner

Mike sent me this cute picture of him and Dorie on a walk while I was in Kanab

The day that Nora and I got back from best friends, we went to the UVU Art Museum to see the special Alphonse Mucha exhibit since it was the last day. It was such a beautiful and interesting exhibit.

Photos were not allowed, but they had a really nice PDF exhibit guide that included images and information.

" Alphonse Mucha is widely considered the 'father of Art Nouveau,' a Czech-born painter and decorative artist who became a leading figure of the movement in Paris. He achieved fame in 1894 with his distinctive, stylized posters of women, which defined the "Style Mucha" and became synonymous with the Art Nouveau aesthetic."

After going through the Mucha exhibit, we visited an exhibit on the main floor called "Seeing Wilde Songs" -
"Seeing Wilde Songs explores how poetry, music, and visual art intertwine through the work of Oscar Wilde and composer Charles T. Griffes. Drawn to Wilde’s vivid color imagery and musical language, Griffes—who experienced synesthesia—transformed the poet’s verses into rich, sensory soundscapes. The exhibition brings together poems, artworks, musical settings, and audio recordings, inviting visitors to experience moments when color becomes sound, music echoes language, and art moves between the senses."

Celebrating Pi Day - Nora and I brought back a pie from the Thunderbird

It came in a Declaration of Independence-themed box, which was unusual

Mike changing the battery on my Mom's laptop

Since Nora and I had missed the first one, Grammy did another Chinese New Year themed Sunday dinner after we got back.

Dorie get into mischief-mode when she is around Fritz

Ev showing something funny to Monty and V

Oliver is always so interested when I change the seasonal decorations

Max watching from the couch

Love this pose, lol. For some reason the cats are very intrigued by the table in the office that is completely covered in random stuff

How Max spends 80% of his time

Mike and I decided to check out the Pink Box doughnuts now that the initial craziness has died down a bit

Their signature Poo shaped donuts (they have lots of more normal doughnuts too)

Now that Max is always hanging out with me in the office, Oliver has started mostly chilling in the piano room, which makes me a little sad. I miss him hanging out on my computer.

Marolynn, Mike, and I went to see the Project Hail Mary movie, and we all loved it! I wasn't sure how such a complex book would translate to movie form, but they did a good job adapting it.

Sam got his wisdom teeth out this month. After getting home from the oral surgeon, he did this Sporcle quiz where you have to list all the countries in Europe to prove to us that he didn't feel loopy from the anesthesia anymore, lol

Icing the cheeks

We took care of Kate's cats for a couple of days while she was on a trip, and Felix and Louis always make me laugh

Uh oh, I offended Max

Juno LOVES to play

We got to go to our first play on the new Beehive Stage at Hale Theater in Sandy

I liked all the honeycomb pattern and bee details they incorporated

The play was Hallmarked, which is a local original musical about a woman who doesn't like Hallmark movies, but finds herself in a situation just like one. Not being fans of Hallmark movies, we weren't really the target audience, but we still had fun.

More Max hanging out

The weekend that Nora came down to visit was also at the peak of the blooming trees on our street

Max and Oliver went to the vet for their senior checkups. Oliver is doing fine, but Max had to come back for a cardiac and abdominal ultrasound.

He has something going on, but it is hard to diagnose without invasive testing. We are going to put him on a medication trial for a couple of weeks, and then repeat the ultrasound to see if he is improving. He is around 15 years old now.

A rare instance of Max joining Oliver in the piano room

Springtime means more birds are around for Juno to watch

Blossoms on the weeping cherry tree

Jon and Jacqueline finally got our Christmas cards. They got sent to Taipei, and then eventually sent back to where they were supposed to go. Maybe I need to improve my handwriting 😂

Max and Mike

Max in the Love Sac

One of the things the cats really enjoy about this time of year is that we can open the windows a lot of the time. They are so interested in the sounds and smells from outside

Some more pics of Max being a silly lil guy

So elegant, so grumpy

We were able to attend a performance of "The Little Mermaid Jr" that Vienne was in. She played a sailor and a chef! It was such a cute production, and we went on closing night.

They have someone who makes the cutest themed cookies that they sell at the concessions table

Celebrating a job well done!

While we were walking through the school, there was a bulletin board displaying these Olympic torches made by one of the younger grades. They were so cute, and I loved their spelling of peace and celebration.

V and Monty came over to hang out while Beth went to see Project Hail Mary. Monty was very proud that Max wanted to hang out with him since Max is usually super shy around people he doesn't know well.

Funny Dorie

Springtime tablescape at Sunday dinner

My mom's little bird feeder with a camera on it is very popular

Max taking over Dorie's stairs

For book club this month, we read "Beyond the Wand" by Tom Felton, in preparation for Beth and Kate seeing him playing Draco in "The Cursed Child" on Broadway in April.

I brought my little Slytherin snake
