Since January, the kids directors, costume and scenery committees have been hard at work getting everything ready for the school production of Peter Pan. I was on the mermaid costume committee, and was also able to come to several of the dress rehearsals to get some pictures and video.
Nora and her buddy and fellow mermaid, Kaylie
Captain Hook and the pirates. The scenery committee did an excellent job with the pirate ship set!
The Fairies
Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys
These were from Nora's scene:
Peter Pan introducing Wendy to the mermaids
The mermaid dance - the first part of the dance was inspired by the synchronized swimming routines of the 1940's, and that was also the inspiration for the fancy swimming caps for their costumes.

We were able to attend their Friday night performance as a family, and it was great!
Tic-Tock about to come out!
After their final performance, one of the moms hosted a fun ice cream and karaoke party for the girls in the mermaid group
It was a lot of work, but a great experience for Nora!
Last September, the kids saw an advertisement for the Utah Symphony putting on a Pokemon concert, and they really wanted to go, so we bought tickets. March seemed so far away, but finally the day came and we went to Abravanel Hall!
Reece came with us also, which was fun! Here, Nora and Reece were catching some Pokemon in Pokemon Go while we were waiting to go in.
We had good seats close to the front!
Before the concert started, they had a guess the Pokemon game going on on the screen behind the orchestra
(this is not the answer to the picture above - haha)
The program was created by a few people, who travel around and perform it with different orchestras. The concert went chronologically through the different Pokemon games that have come out sine 1996, and included some of the most memorable songs from each one. There was a screen behind the orchestra that would show little video clips from the different games, as well as some close up shots of different sections of the orchestra. It was a really fun and unusual concert.
Intermission
This is a picture I found online of a different orchestra performing the concert, but it gives an idea of what it was like.
