On Thursday, some of the adults, and the older kids had a skiing day. Karin and my Mom planned a cute little winter-themed party for the little kid cousins on the Johns and Burton sides that were too little to go skiing.
The first craft was making gum-drop balls by sticking cut-in-half toothpicks into a gumdrop, and then sticking it into a styrofoam ball. Sam just sat there and ate gumdrops the whole time. Hehe.
The next game was really funny. We put the kids together in pairs, and then they took turns wrapping their partner up in toilet paper and decorating them like a snowman. The grownups were there to help a little bit, but the kids got a huge kick out of this!
Evie and Ainsley were partners. Evie was the first one to become a snowman.
Nora and Will were partners. Here is little snowman Nora.
For the next round, Ainsley got turned into a snowman
Nora made Will into a snowman
I helped fill in the spots Nora missed
Then Nora got black paper buttons, a hat and a scarf to put on him
All finished!

Jake and Ben were partners. Ben wanted his whole face covered in toilet paper!
After everyone broke out of their snowman costumes, there was a little toilet paper fight
Sam thought it was hilarious!
After cleaning up the toilet paper, we went back to the craft room for another craft. Karin had bought 3 different sizes of marshmallows, and the kids did marshmallow painting by dipping the marshmallow in white paint and stamping it onto colored paper. There were plenty of extra marshmallows to snack on, so the kids didn't try to eat the paint ones (except Sam managed to sneak one. Thank goodness for non-toxic paint).
To keep Sam away from the paint, I gave him his own little stash of marshmallows over in another part of the room
He was quite thrilled with this

The next activity was an indoor "snowball fight" with little balls made of white tissue paper. They had been taped a little bit to help them stay in a ball.

Evie being interesting
Even Sam got into it and learned how to throw snowballs
After the snowball fight, we went upstairs for lunch. Here are the grape and kiwi Christmas trees, and the Snowman cream cheese for spreading on crackers.
We made the little reindeer sandwiches
Mom made some little strawberry and whipped cream "Santas"
Evie had her own special sandwiches, crackers and pretzels
When lunch was over, we went outside and had a balloon "avalanche" from off of the balcony. The kids stood on the grass below, and Mom and Karin dumped over a bag full of white balloons. The object of the game was to try and keep as many balloons up off the ground as possible.
Here are the kids waiting for the balloons
Here they come!

At the end of the party, the kids went in the playroom, and played together for a long time. They had a wonderful time!
Here is "Chubus" (one of Thomas' many nicknames) in a little Santa outfit. Cute!
