October Misc.

Here are a few more pictures from October:

One morning when we were headed to school, we saw two horses walking down our street. We stopped to watch them for a minute, then needed to go pick up our other friend in our carpool. When I got back after taking the kids to school, the horses were nowhere to be found, so someone must have taken them back home. It is exciting to live behind a farm sometimes!

We had a crazy hale storm one day. On the areas on the lawn where we have pop-up drains for the rain gutters, there were piles of hale that had come through the drain. Sam saw them and said "There is white cheese out on the grass!" then went to go investigate...

Cute Evie is always making cards and letters for Mike and me. On the bottom of this one, she said "How I feel about you is..." and then a row of faces ranging from sad to very happy. Luckily she put the arrow pointing to "happeyist" :)

We had a pretty low-key October conference weekend this year. Here is a picture of driving up to Grammy and Grandpop's house

These two spent a lot of time playing Disney Infinity

The kids are always so excited to have a sleepover at Grammy and Grandpop's. Here is Sam's fake sleeping face...hehe

Back at home...Sam loves Saider Puff

When I was at school for parent teacher conferences, I enjoyed looking at the kids' artwork in the halls

We went to the school book fair

The kids wanted to have a sleepover in Nora's room. Usually this means that Nora and Evie are in the bed, and Sam sleeps on the floor, so I was surprised when I checked on them that all 3 were in the bed!

We had a mommy movie night one Saturday when Mike went to a football game with my Dad. We had root beer floats and watched "Babe"

Nora and Grammy made a cute banner that spells "Spooky"

Dorie helping me put out some decorations

Sam and Sadie playing iPad

Sam lost his first tooth this month, which was very exciting! He lost it while he was in the bathtub, so this picture is right after he ran in to tell me

and this picture is after I made him get dressed, hehe

Another mommy movie night where we made microwave s'mores, and watched "Home"

The grocery store didn't have GF graham crackers, so Evie got to make hers with GF cookies!

Sam decorated this cute rocket ship with all kinds of Halloween pictures

This is my new favorite picture of Max

This is my other new favorite picture of Max. Mike and I were watching TV, and Max comes and gets on the ottoman, and then watches us watch TV. I couldn't stop laughing at his pose and facial expression!

For a homework assignment this month, Sam got a paper doll to decorate so it would look like him in his costume. He did a great job, and it turned out so cute!

The Thursday before Halloween, Nora's Orchestra had a Halloween party where they got to wear their costumes, got some candy, and got to watch the "Sorcerer's Apprentice" segment of Fantasia at the end of class.

The whole group!

We also had a little Halloween party for our wolf den for den meeting. We decorated cookies for part of it, and my kids joined in as well.

Trick-or-Treat

Getting the trick-or-treat bowl and refills ready (we get LOTS of trick-or-treaters at our house)

Evie had a stomach ache when it was time to go trick-or-treating, so she stayed home with me and helped hand out candy, and watched "The Magic School Bus"

Our trick-or-treaters ready to go!

When Nora and Sam got back, they gave some of their candy to Evie. Dorie kept looking around to see if anyone dropped anything...

After the kids went to bed and the flow of trick-or-treaters had stopped, Mike and I watched "The Addams Family" with Sades

Dog Halloween Party

On Halloween afternoon, the girls and I went to a Dog Halloween party that was hosted by Dorie's dog trainer.

When we first got there, they were doing some demonstrations on how to teach different tricks to your dog.

The girls and Dorie watching

Since it was a little hard to walk around in the Zelda costume since the dress is so long, I went as a vampire to this party to go along with Dorie's bat costume

The girls sure love their pup

There was food, a raffle and a costume contest.
Nora went around and took some pictures of her favorite dog costumes:

Family Halloween Party

On Friday evening after the school parties, we had our family party at our house!

We had "Spooky Shepherd's Pie" with mashed potato ghosts

Orange and black fruit salad

Candy corn vegetable tray

Mom made this yummy green salad with fall-themed cheese shapes

Pumpkin-shaped cheese balls

Monster doughnuts for dessert!

The costumes:
Here is our family picture. Mike was Link, I was Princess Zelda, the girls were veterinarians, Sam was a minion, and Dory was a flying fox (a type of giant bat)

Link and Zelda

We didn't make Max come be in the group picture, but he had a cute little costume, too! He was keeping it classy with a little black bow tie.

Dad and Kate were our Oz residents - the Scarecrow and Ozma of Oz

Mom was a panda bear

The Madisons were from Neverland this year. Vienne made the cutest Tinkerbelle!

We got the sad lip a few times

Awww, look at those cute little booties!

The whole crew - Peter, Tink and Wendy!

Marolynn was a witch

Time to eat

Nora had made place cards for everyone. Sam had decorated them with his "How to Train Your Dragon" stickers

Sadie got some cuddles after dinner - she has to spend a little time at the Halloween party since she is Halloween colors!

Ozma and Sades

We played "Don't Eat Frank!"

A grumpy Max also made a brief appearance at the party

Then we played "Spooky Hot Potato" - the potato was covered in googly eyes!

The suspense of the final round!

For our craft, we made some mason jar candle  holders. Some were covered with fall leaves, and some were covered in bandages to look like a mummy!

Sam loved making the mummies (he also got lots of kisses from Ozma - haha!)

Grandpop had another surprise - he decided it was time for my doll house that I made in junior high to come stay at our house now. The girls were thrilled. I hope it survives Sam...
