September Misc.

A few more pictures from September:

The knew that the Eevee Pokemon stuffed animals were going to be in Build-a-bear stores on Sept. 1, so they worked really hard to earn the money to get one. They were so excited to go and get them! They only had a few left by the time we went, so it is good we went when we did!

Mike was at a football game with my dad, so the kids and I decided to have a night out as well, and went to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. The kids had never been there before, and they loved it! I am so glad they have GF pasta available.

Sam got an oreo shake

The girls loved the Italian sodas

Mike and I went on a date night to the Riverwoods. They were supposed to be having a sidewalk chalk art festival, but it was raining. We did find this giant Poke ball!

Dinner at Happy Sumo, Mmmmmm!

The kids were really excited when we ran an errand at Petsmart, to see that there was a dog that looks just like Dorie in their Halloween advertising

I have been so proud of the progress that Sam has made in his reading! He is reading chapter books like a pro. He is especially enjoying the Magic Tree House books.

Lazy pup

In our Japan Crate for this month, there was an item that just made me laugh and laugh. It is a little, tiny plastic washing machine, and you add water and the "soap" (drink mix), and it bubbles up and makes a little yogurt flavored drink.

Grammy gave us a snow cone machine, and we had fun trying it out!

All day long, whenever I am home, Dorie follows me everywhere - especially now that the kids are back in school. She is a good little buddy.

This month, I was also able to attend the volunteer orientation for the Humane Society, and do my dog area training and cat area training, and start volunteering there. When I was cleaning out litter boxes in Kitty City I came across this relaxed fellow. Hehe.

Sam's Tooth Surgery

On Friday, Sam had his surgery to remove his extra tooth. This seems to run in the family, as my sister had one, and Nora also had one that had to be removed so it wouldn't cause problems for the permanent teeth.

When we checked in at the office, they let Sam pick a little stuffed animal to keep from a basket, and he picked a kitty. He was also pretty happy about getting to play the iPad while we were waiting.

All ready to go - here he is right before they put in the IV. The surgery went great, and we got to be with him in recovery while he was waking back up.

We went and got a milkshake after, since he needed to have something in his stomach before we could give him his meds. He wanted the iPad back so he could finish his game.

I thought he would want to come home and sleep, but he wanted to play the wii and eat his milkshake. Hehe.
He is recovering really well, and should be back at school on Monday.

Dog Days

This past week was "Dog Days" at the Thanksgiving Point gardens, so dogs were allowed to come visit! My goal this year was to take Dorie on a walk there every day this week, and Dorie loved it.

We also got to see the newly opened "I am the Light of the World" garden that features 15 scenes of Christ depicted in bronze statues.

The statue of Christ walking on the water is really amazing

Nora's favorite was "The Gathering"

The gardens were beautiful, and we really enjoyed our visits

Dorie had fun meeting and playing with other dogs in the fenced off-leash area

Dorie wasn't the only one meeting new dog friends

Dorie was fascinated watching people feed the koi

The Italian garden was super colorful
