Name Poll

Well, we have been discussing names for little BG #2, and we have narrowed it down to two choices:
Evelyn - we would probably call her Evie for a nickname
Lucy - we didn't really like any of the longer forms as much, so it would just be Lucy

Please vote on our poll (on the right side of the blog) and let us know what you think!

Appointment with the Allergist

Nora had her appointment with the allergist today. She got skin testing done on her back for peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, fish, shell fish, cats and dogs. Out of those, the peanut (surprise, surprise) and egg came back positive. She also got blood taken for the blood allergy tests, and we will get the results from those back after the holidays. Poor little Nora was a good sport though it all. The egg allergy is not as severe, and about 70% of kids outgrow it, they said. Peanut allergies on the other hand are rarely outgrown (about 20%). We are still learning a lot about food allergies and how to keep Nora safe. Sadie (and the rest of us) are glad that she didn't test positive to cats!

Our Little Fluffy Puff

I realized it had been a while since we posted about Sadie, so I thought I would post this picture. Sadie has been a good sport with all the craziness of the past few months. She has learned how to jump over the gate that we put up at the bottom of the stairs. I think it probably is good for her weight loss program. Anyway, we love our kitty!

This is our other pet. It got off to a little bit of a rough start when Nora picked off some of the seeds and early sprouts, but it seems to have recovered and is doing quite nicely.

Nora's Christmas Pictures

Nora went to get her Christmas pictures taken last Monday. She was in a really good mood, and I think the pictures are really cute. I guess getting your picture taken isn't quite as scary if Santa's not there. Hehe.

Ultrasound Today!!

Today we had the big 20-week ultrasound. I am happy to report that our baby is doing well, and everything looked good.

Rawhide!

On Saturday we went to Rawhide, an 1880's style western town. My favorite store was the candy store and we got some fudge there. We also saw Santa, although we didn't get too close after what happened at Nora's last encounter with him. We had dinner at the sundown cookout, which was really fun. It got a little chilly, so we spent some time warming up by the fire, and some toasted marshmallows. After dinner, we went and got some old fashioned photos taken. The boys were pretty excited about the toy guns. Nora had fallen asleep, and we had to wake her up for the photo, so she looks a little sleepy.

Nora loves being with Grandpop!

Fun with Cousins

Mike went to a week long training in Mesa, and Nora and I went along and spent some time with Karin, Ricky and the boys. Nora had a lot of fun with her cousins.

Some of Mike's favorite websites...

I figured that Jenny has had a pretty large monopoly on the postings here. So, I'm going to share a few websites that I enjoy to check daily:

Tech:
ExtremeTech - Updated every morning with a new article or two.
Engadget - Updated about every minute. Technology rumors, gadgets galore. I think I'm addicted to this site.
DL.TV - Updated with a new hour long show weekly. Great to learn about different aspects of computers.
DailyTech - Updated throughout the day. Nice format.
Anandtech - Meant for analysing enthusiast computer parts. Sometimes a little too detailed for me, but I still enjoy it quite a bit.

Computer parts:
Newegg.com - I wouldn't buy computer parts anywhere else on the web. They usually have awesome prices and they ship things to you very very fast. There are some great deals to be found. I have ordered all the parts of the computers I have build from here.
Monoprice - Verify inexpensive site to get cables. I've ordered from here a couple of times and have been completely satisfied.

Games:
Worthplaying - All about new games being developed for every platform. It is updated quite a bit everyday.

Random Fun:
Movie Trailers - See all the newest movie trailers out there.

Happy Halloween!

The little monkey!

Nora was very excited about the bowl of candy. We had a lot of trick-or-treaters.

Pumpkin Carving

We decided that we had better carve our pumpkins tonight so they would be ready for Halloween tomorrow. It's amazing that it's the end of the month already. Mike's pumpkin is pretty easy to figure out, but just in case you are wondering what my pumpkin is supposed to be, it is a cat sitting on a moon, surrounded by stars.

Snap, Crackle, Pop

Mike was sleeping at our house, and during the night he heard a "pop". It sounded like Sadie had knocked something over, so he just went back to sleep. The next morning he was pulling out of the driveway and noticed that a tree in the neighbor's front yard had split and landed on the fence between our houses. I guess the snow from the night had put too much weight on it. It doesn't look like there is too much damage to the fence. The neighbors said they will be cutting down the rest of the tree today.
