On our last day, we decided to visit the famous ship, the Queen Mary
One more Lodge 49 screencap - The Queen Mary makes a brief appearance in the show
A photo from the maiden voyage of the ship in 1936

Portraits of Queen Mary
They had several model ships on display. This one was of the SS Normandie, a French ocean liner built around the same time
The details in the model were really neat
A brief history timeline of the Queen Mary - Built as a luxury liner in the 1930s, retrofitted to serve as a troopship during WWII, restored as a luxury liner, then retired and permanently docked at Long Beach, where it now serves as a hotel, museum, and tourist attraction.
We signed up to go on the "Haunted Encounters" tour, and got to hear lots of ghost stories about the ship
Down under this grate is supposed to be the most haunted place on the ship
Our tour guide telling us a creepy story
After the tour, we looked around the ship a bit more
This is an interesting chart - comparing the original Queen Mary ship with the Queen Mary 2, which was introduced in 2003
Some of the original elevators still work
There were some fun old pictures of the ship on display
This one was my favorite - the children's costume contest from the 1960s.
The Observation Bar - the Art Deco decor in here is really cool
Out on the deck
An anti-aircraft machine gun
The view of Long Beach from the Queen Mary
This was a very, very large chain
Next, it was time to head to the airport
I got a chance to get a better look at some of the mosaics on the floor this time
We got some lunch at the food court, and then bid farewell to Long Beach
View out the plane window
Back in Utah - it had snowed while we were gone, so we needed to scrape the ice and snow off the car to drive home
It was a short, but super-fun trip. A few days in the California sunshine sure felt good!
