The third week of August was our back to school week
Monday was Back to School Night at the Jr High and High School. Since it is Sam's first year at the Jr High, Ev showed him around and helped him find his classrooms.
Tuesday was 7th Grade Day, where only the 7th graders go. They go to each of their classes for 15 minutes, and have a little assembly.
Nora made Sam some waffles to celebrate

Wednesday was the official first day of school for everyone
Nora is a Junior this year. The High School starts earlier, so she got her picture before the other two were awake
Ev is in 9th grade - the last year at the Jr High
and Sam is in 7th and excited to not be in elementary school any more
Dorie wanted a picture in front of the door, too. Hehe
The mom who was driving on Wednesday took this first day of school picture of the Jr High carpool
Juno had her yearly checkup at the vet. She loved exploring around the room while waiting for the vet, but had to be burrito-fied in a towel for her actual exam because she was being spicy
Nora personalized Max's box for him

Oliver is still doing a good job at learning to be a lap cat. His favorite lap is Mike's
Max deep in thought after rolling in the catnip
Ev helped me make the magnets to decorate our door on the cruise

Mike has been making some yummy homemade guacamole, and Sam has been using it to make avocado toast
Cute lil trip hazard on the stairs
This is the kind of mouse I prefer for him to catch - hehe
Nora took care of Beth's hedgehog, Tiggy, while Beth was on a trip. In preparation for that, we moved Juno's home base from Nora's room to Ev's room
Juno exploring her new digs
Sam went to Clear Creek camp. They have changed it in the past couple of years so that the kids don't sleep over at the camp. They have their first day doing games and activities at a local elementary school, and then the second day they get on a bus early and drive to the camp site in Scofield and spend the day, and come home again in the evening.
These are a few pictures they took during the camp of their activities
Max loves the back of all of our couches
Cute Tiggy - she stayed in Nora's room in her enclosure most of the time, but came out to be held, and we let her explore around the master bathroom.

There is an AI program website called Dall-e mini where you can type in a prompt, and it will try to create a matching image. Here are some of our results that we thought were funny:
Dog mermaid
Cat mermaid
Hedgehog mermaid
This particular one turned out surprisingly cute!
We have also gotten back into playing My Singing Monsters. They have a new feature called Composer Island where you can program in your own songs. Here is our rendition of Neverending Story as sung by monsters. Hehe
Packing is always interesting when you have cats
Juno cuddles
When we picked Dorie up from boarding, they had given her a bath, but she was shedding a lot so we brushed her. A little while later we had this massive fur cloud
On the office desk, there is a box, and a basket. It was originally intended that one be for Max and one be for Oliver, but Oliver doesn't really use his. Now we joke that the box is Max's regular house, and the basket is his vacation home.
Uh oh, owl ears

On the drive home from our trip, Mike and Nora started experiencing some cold-like symptoms. They took a covid test the day after we got back and they were both negative. A couple days later, Nora's symptoms were getting worse, so she tested again, and her test was positive. The rest of us also decided we'd better test, and Mike and Sam also tested positive. Ev went another week with negative tests and we thought she wasn't going to get it, but a week later she got a positive test. I took a whole bunch of tests during this time and never got a positive one - so either I just didn't get it, or I got it earlier and just didn't know. Hmmm. The good thing is everyone was recovered and had tested negative before the start of school activities. Mike, Sam and Ev had very mild cases. Poor Nora got a lot more sick, with a sore throat, a fever, body aches, extreme fatigue, and loss of taste and smell.
