Chamber Stings Jazz Concert

One of the kids in Chamber Orchestra (the one that Nora is in) is also in the Jazz Band at the school, and had the idea for the orchestra to learn some jazz songs and he helped find the orchestra music for it and everything. They also learned a couple of arrangements of rock/popular songs that were really fun. They weren't able to get any of the auditoriums for the concert, so they improvised and held it in the school commons area.

Snow on the Plow

Sing Sing Sing

Night and Day

Bossa Rojo

Dust in the Wind

Don't Stop Believin'

It was a really fun and unusual concert!

October Misc.

Here are a few more pictures from October:

Mike and I went to see the movie, A Haunting in Venice

Juno watching All Creatures Great and Small with us

Nora with two projects she did in floral design - a paper flower bouquet, and a baby's breath head wreath

Mike bought a pack of paintable miniature figures and some paints and brushes. He thought they would be a fun addition to our D&D game, as well as a fun new hobby to try.

Some of our first figures we painted (penny for scale)

There's nothing like a good roll in the grass on a sunny day

Oliver was not a fan of Sam's Halloween costume

Oliver after bringing a praying mantis and a giant grasshopper into the house. Ugh

Cute Dorie after coming back from the dog park. She really wore herself out

The FFA club had their first CDE competition of the year. They went down to Snow College for it

A very dramatic sunset

Dorie hanging out with Sam while he's practicing

Juno loves her daddy

On Saturday morning, Oct 14, there was an annular solar eclipse. Our neighbors gave us some safe viewing glasses so we could get a look at it

It made some pretty cool crescent-shaped shadows

I even noticed crescent shapes from the sunlight coming through the shutters into the house

Juno loves hanging out in her sunny window

If she hears someone come into the bathroom, she'll stick her head through one of the slats to see who it is and if she wants to come out (usually the answer is no)

Mike, Nora, and I went to go see the musical "Around the World in 80 Days" at Hale Center Theatre

We were able to go to the themed dinner before the play, and it was really fun. The tables were decorated with little hot air balloons made from paper lanterns

There was a map on the wall, and the sign by it said "Please pin a flag at your favorite location on your trip around the world!" Mike pinned Trondheim- Norway, Nora pinned Bergen- Norway, and I pinned Tokyo- Japan.

A picture taken after the end of the play - I always love their set design and props

Carrie took this cute picture of Juno in the hutch

Juno climbing around through the stair bannisters

More pet pics:

Oliver's catch of the day - luckily this time it was just the padawan braid from Mike's Anakin costume, lol

My parents were taking care of Beth's cats while she was in Disneyland, so we went and played with them during Sunday dinner

Juno looking exactly like Jiji

Experimenting with different modes on the camera
