Nora's Graduation

May 22nd was the big day - the day of the AFHS graduation ceremony!

These were the graduation announcements that we sent out

Getting ready to go bright and early! (Dorie was so sleepy in this picture, hehe). Nora needed to be at the Marriott Center at 8, and we wanted to get some pictures before we left. (It was yearbook day at the junior high and Sam really didn't want to miss that, so that is why he is not in the pictures)

The graduation ceremony was held at the Marriott Center at BYU

Nora got to sit up on the stand for being a Sterling Scholar

Speech from the class president

The orchestra, band, and choir performed Duel of the Fates

Remarks from the principal

Names being read

Walking the stage and getting her diploma

The turning of the tassels

Singing the school song

So proud of our graduate!! 💖

With the grandparents (my mom wasn't able to come because she is still recovering from her knee replacement surgery, but sent her love and support)

Ev took this picture - we really appreciated everyone who came and supported Nora!

Nora and her friend, Eli

We had a little celebration back at our house. I got some cupcakes in the school colors

After half of them had been eaten I remembered that I had gotten some little pick decorations to put in them, lol

Lil Martinelli's

I set up a little table with some pictures, awards, and memorabilia from Nora's time in high school

Congratulations to Nora, and all of the class of 2024!

Spring Orchestra Concert

The kids had their last orchestra concert of the year. They started with the Jr High. Sam is in the advanced orchestra.

The advanced orchestra combined with the intermediate orchestra to play the Incredibles theme. They all had little black facemasks to wear.

The Incredibles - Main Theme

Next, the advanced orchestra performed 4 more songs:
An Irish Party in Third Class (from Titanic)

Argent Edge

Kingdom Dance (from Tangled)

March of the Resistance (from The Force Awakens) - Mrs. Smith used a mini lightsaber to conduct this one

Next up was the high school concert

Into the Storm

All the Things

Battle - 2 students played electric violins, and 2 played electric cellos for this song (I accidentally had the video recording on the wrong mode, so the picture is not that great, but you can still hear the sound just fine)

Pirates Legend

Danse Bacchanale - they have performed this one before, but this time they did it with the band and percussion

Having the graduating seniors stand and be recognized

For the last song, they performed "Duel of the Fates" from The Phantom Menace, and the choir came in and joined. That is the choir teacher on the left with the Darth Vader helmet on, hehe. She had a little red lightsaber for conducting the choir, and Mrs. Smith had a blue one for conducting the orchestra and band. The principal and one of the assistant principals had a light saber duel in the middle of the song.

Duel of the Fates

After the orchestra finished their last piece, the seniors got up and each gave Mrs. Smith a rose and a letter.

Getting some photos with the kids after the concert

Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Auga gave these little cards and gifts to the graduating seniors

Nora and Ev went to JcW's with some of their friends, and Sam wanted to try out Sippin' for a treat

Mother's Day

Here are some pictures from Mother's Day this year:

I got a nice gift and flowers from Mike. The kids made me some wonderful homemade cards
