A Brite Birthday Party!

We decided to do a combined birthday party for the girls this year because I don't think I would have the energy to do two parties, and Nora's birthday is pretty close to my due date. Karin and her family came up for a weekend for Kate's graduation, so we thought it would be fun to have the party while they were here since the girls love being with their cousins so much. I got really sick a week before the party, so Beth, Kate, my Mom and the Burtons were a huge help and put the party together and did all the decorations, the dinner, and Evie's cake. They really went above and beyond and they did an amazing job. Nora had requested a Rainbow Brite theme for the party, which turned out to be really fun!

This was my contribution to the party - Nora requested a Starlite cake, so I did my best to make a horse-shaped cake. Nora helped me, and seemed pleased with the end result.
When we got to the party, the girls put on some costumes. Nora was Rainbow Brite
And Evie was Twink, the white sprite
We were all very impressed with the decorations when we arrived!! Nora especially loved the "rainbow road" on the floor. The crepe paper canopy was very cool.

Yummy rainbow fruit. My parents made a really good dinner with chicken salad, a fruit and avocado green salad, fruit, and muffins.

Evie had a lot of fun playing with John

Kate and Beth made Evie's cake. It had rainbow layers inside!

Opening presents

Little Ev Bug was pretty tired by the end of the party. You can tell she's really tired when she'll sit still long enough to cuddle. Hehe.
This is a picture of Nora from today. She and Evie are enjoying their costumes and presents. Thank you, everyone!

Happy Haircuts!

I've been sick so I am a little late in posting this, but a couple of weeks ago the girls got their first professional haircut. I had cut their hair a few times, but thought it would look nicer if someone who knew what they were doing could even it out and give it a nice shape.

Nora was very brave and got her hair washed in the big sink
Nora did Starlite's (the horse) hair while Kim did her hair

Evie had a little harder time sitting still

Grammy brought a sucker for her, and that helped
The final result! Very cute!

I got a haircut too, but I don't have a picture. It's been nice having shorter hair!

Easter & Conference Weekend

We had a really fun Conference and Easter weekend. On Saturday we went to Wheeler Farm in between sessions, and the girls were so excited to go on a little outing! Nora was very excited to go on a pony ride, and when Evie saw her, she wanted to try it too.

Nora got to meet this kind of freaky looking Easter bunny (but he was really nice). Evie was scared of him.
Both girls had a fun time playing in the treehouse

Nora brought her toy camera and was "taking pictures" of all the animals

Taking a picture of a black bunny
There were some bunnies that were for sale, and Nora was able to hold one (with a little help). She absolutely loves animals, so she was thrilled.

Later that evening, we made some rice crispy treat nests. Nora was a very good helper, especially with putting the jelly bean "eggs" in the nests, and making sure the rest of us didn't eat too many jelly beans!

On Sunday, we watched morning conference, then did Easter baskets and the egg hunt. Since there was snow outside, we did the egg hunt indoors.

Finding an egg in the tree!

After afternoon conference, Aunt B and Grandpop helped Nora dye some eggs

Here are all the dyed eggs. Beth and Kate did most of them, and experimented with some new techniques.
We had a very nice Easter dinner, and Beth and Kate did a very pretty table setting.
