Kate really wanted to see Disneyland during the 60th Anniversary, so we planned a quick weekend trip.
The girls left this cute card on my pillow the night before we left.
We arrived Friday night. My cell phone fell out of my pocket during the cab ride, and I didn't notice until we were checking into the hotel, so that was a bit of an adventure trying to get that back. In the end, my phone did a lot more traveling on this trip than we did, but I was eventually able to get it back. Whew! It is very strange being able to see where your phone is on Find My Friends & Find My iPhone, but not be able to get to it.
We had a late dinner at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. Kate and Beth love this place, and I had never been before, so it was fun to check it out. They have delicious Southern food here.
A group was playing live jazz music, and the piano was sparkly and bejeweled
The next morning we started out the day at California Adventure. I loved all the beautiful blooming trees, and flowers!
There is a new ride opening in Cars Land. It wasn't scheduled to open until a few days later, but we happened to be walking by at just the right time and they said they were doing a "soft opening" before the official opening, so we hurried into the line to try it out!
We got to see it running before there were any people on the ride yet
It is pretty cute! You sit in a little car, and the cars do kind of a "dance routine" to a song based on different Italian dances
Trying out the ride - it was really fun!
Some lovely wisteria growing on a pergola outside of Tower of Terror
We decided to do "smelled something bad" faces for the photo...
Next we headed over to Disneyland, and checked out some of their cute diamond decorations
The floral Mickey has a giant diamond in his bow tie
I loved all the spring blossoms!!
We meant to get breakfast at the park, but we were a little too late for that, so we got lunch instead at the Jolly Holiday Bakery.
Checking out the Star Wars stuff in Tomorrowland, and picking up some fast passes!
I was so happy to ride Small World because it was closed when I had been here in January
We were all pretty tired out, so we went back to the hotel for a nap. In the evening we headed back to the park.
Bethany did these cute "Leia Buns" in my hair
Sporting our Star Wars style
We picked up a quick dinner, and ate it while we watched the fun "Paint the Night" electrical parade
The lit up castle with the twinkling roof at night
Then it was finally the window to go back and use our fast passes!
Getting ready for our Star Tours special mission
We headed to Pooh Corner to check out all the cute treats they have there. These are the special caramel apples that they have for Easter time
We stopped to admire the new Main Street window displays for quite a while. They are very detailed and have lots of cool effects. Also, each one changes periodically to a second scene. They are so magical!
Sunday morning started out a little rainy, but the rain didn't last long
We spent the morning in Fantasyland
Going down the rabbit hole
The teacups - Beth and Kate wouldn't let me spin fast
They are having a special Easter egg hunt in Disneyland right now. They have maps available with clues, and you can get one and fill it out and find all the eggs if you want. Since this was a short trip and we didn't have a lot of time, we didn't do it, but we saw some of the eggs and they were really cute!
We had a Star Wars style breakfast from the Galactic Grill. I had the Bantha blue milk bread french toast.
Kate had a whole conversation with this duck that was to the side of the castle. He would quack back at her. We also saw the monorail come to a stop and honk its horn because a duck was on the track and didn't want to move. I'm glad to know they break for ducks.
We saw a band playing and Mary Poppins dancing outside of the castle
After more rides, we headed back to the Galactic Grill for lunch and treats
At 3:30, we went back to the hotel to pick up our luggage and take a cab back to the airport. It was a short, but awesome trip!
