Princess Hair, and Other Goings On

One Sunday, Beth was practicing some hairstyles for a friend's wedding on my hair. Evie was so excited and wanted her hair done the same way, but it was time to go home, so Beth said she would do it next time.

The next week Evie was sooo excited. "This is the best day ever. Do you know what is going to happen today? Aunt B is going to do my hair like a PRINCESS!"
She was thrilled with the results.

And for a few more random pictures:
Evie's paper cup pyramid. This was just moments before poor Dorie knocked it down and was scared to death. I told Ev that next time, it might be a good idea to not build things like that in a high traffic area...

After 20 years, I decided to re-learn how to ride a bike. It was a little rough at first, but I'm doing much better. My goal is to be able to go bike riding with Dorie.

Cub scout pack meeting - water kick soccer, with a firetruck. Woah.

Sam found a comfy place to play my phone...oh boy

We've made several more trips to the Museum of Natural Curiosity. It is so fun!

More Dorie!

Jon said I wasn't posting enough pictures of Dorie on the blog, so here are a whole bunch! She is a very cute, sweet dog. She has been going to obedience training with me, and I have also been taking her to dog socialization class to help her feel more comfortable around other dogs. She has made a lot of progress - on the first day of socialization class, she put her tail in between her legs and hid behind the garbage can for half of the class. Now she is meeting other dogs, although she is still a little timid. She has been doing a lot better about not barking at bikes and things we see on walks. She has also been learning to use the "potty place" - a certain part of the yard to do her business. Good work, Dorie!

Here is Dorie at socialization class - the dogs get time to interact together off-leash, while the humans walk around in a big circle around the perimeter. The humans are not supposed to touch, make eye contact with, or talk to the dogs, so the dogs can interact more naturally with each other. Even though I don't look at her or talk to her, Dorie still likes to walk next to me for a lot of the class. (That is me in the teal shirt, and she is next to me). Oh well. It is still a good experience for her.

Thor belongs to Nora's friend

When Dorie was going through her fall shedding, she got to have a long date with the furminator brush every day. One day she was getting sick of being brushed, and played dead. Nice try, Dorie. (You can see some of the brushed out fluff in the background)

Dorie likes to come in the car to pick up Sam from preschool

Sam had a dog treat in his hand, and she was pretty interested in that!

Happy Birthday, Mike and Reece!

Mike's birthday fell during Education Week at BYU, so we met up with my parents and Kitch, who were going to classes there, and went out to dinner at CPK in Orem. It was also the first week of school, so it was fun to celebrate that as well.

The table where we were sitting was pretty breezy, so here Mike is trying to keep the candle from going out while I take the picture.

We had a Sunday dinner double party to celebrate Mike and Reece's b-days with everyone

Those candles didn't stand a chance!

Happy birthday to two awesome guys!
