Nora's Wild Kratts Birthday Party

For her 9th birthday party, Nora picked "Wild Kratts" as the theme. Wild Kratts is a show on PBS Kids about all kinds of wild animals and the cool things that they can do. We were very excited that the Burtons would be able to come to the party!

Our decorations:

The part of the party that I was most excited for was that I had arranged for Wild Wonders to bring some animals for us to see and meet! Wild Wonders is an animal rescue and education facility, and some of the animals are available to travel. Sarah did the presentation at our party, and she was very knowledgeable about the animals, and taught us many interesting things about them.

The first animal we met was Toothpicks the hedgehog.

Next, we met Cinnamon the chinchilla.

We got an awesome surprise! Cinnamon's 3 babies came also, and we were able to pet and hold them.

Petting Cinnamon

Elliott and Sobe were bearded dragons.

Those who wanted to, got to hold Elliott

This is Stinkie the skunk.

She is de-scented, but the kids did a sniff test, and reported that she still had a slight skunk smell

Koko is an umbrella cockatoo.

We got to pet him, and when you looked at your fingers after petting him, there was a little white powder. The white powder is what makes their feathers waterproof.

Since Nora was the birthday girl, she got to hold this cute little fox, and bring it around for everyone to pet.

We got to meet two tortoises. We met the bigger one first.

The smaller tortoise was named Hamburger, because that is how you hold him.

This is a Flemish giant rabbit, named Tank. He was very chill and just hung out on the floor while everyone got a chance to pet him.

Sam LOVED the rabbit
We loved meeting the animals and learning about them!

After the animals left, we had dinner:

Opening presents

This was a game I saw on Pintrest that I thought looked fun. It is a spider web made of masking tape on a hula hoop. The kids through cotton balls (to represent bugs) to see how many they could get caught in the web. The kids got a kick out of it, and got it completely covered in cotton balls (and the floor got completely covered in cotton balls, too, haha).

Then we played animal charades, which was very funny!

Then it was time for cake and cupcakes

Beth and Reece had given Nora a fort building set, where you can make different configurations with sticks and balls that join together, then you cover the structure with sheets or blankets to complete the fort. The kids wanted to try it out, so Beth helped them build one of the forts in the instructions.

Very fun!
Happy birthday, Nora!
