Back To School

August means...
Back to school!

Sam and Evie got to meet their teachers at the school open house/back to school night

Sam is in 4th Grade this year

Evie is in 6th Grade - her last year at the elementary school!

We celebrated the last day of summer by going out to dinner at Blue Lemon

The first day of school!
Nora was very excited to go back to school this year. She is in 8th grade.

One of the other moms took this and sent it to me - it is the kids from our neighborhood at the Jr. High

July Misc.

Here are a few more things from July:

Me after coming home from my colonoscopy....soooooo tired and groggy. Max was pretty tolerant about being squished

Nora and Dorie like to go on walks with Nora's friend and her dog. Dorie even had fun playing in the stream

Nora set up the tent in the backyard as a refresher bfore girls' camp, and the kids had a sleepover out there (including Dorie)

Sam saying hi to the kittens in Petsmart

Family walk

Trying out a new ramen place

These two earned enough points to go to FroYo

Nora's reading tent

I introduced the kids to one of my very, very favorite movies from my childhood - The Neverending Story. They said it was really weird, but good - which is a fair assessment

Oliver finds weird places to sleep

We saw quite a few movies this month in the theater:
Spider-Man Far From Home

Toy Story 4 - I'm still having some mixed feelings about this one, although I loved Forky!

The Secret Life of Pets 2 - I thought this one was waaaay better than the first installment

The girls did tennis lessons this month, and had a lot of fun!

Walk in the park

We went to see Cinderella (Rodgers and Hammerstein version) at Hale Theatre, and it was very magical

Art with Grammy

Nora and I tried doing some temporary color on the ends of our hair - the color was 'rose gold'

Clear Creek Camp

At the end of July, Evie was able to go to Clear Creek Camp. It is a camp that is owned and operated by the school district, and the summer after their 5th grade year kids can sign up to do one of the summer sessions. This year they changed it from being a week long camp to half a week since demand was becoming much greater than supply, and they wanted more kids to have a chance to go.

Evie all checked in and ready to go on Monday morning!

The camp is located near Scofield, Utah, and the kids rode there on a bus. There are two boys' cabins and two girls' cabins. Evie's cabin was called Pot Gut Hut (pot gut is another name for a ground squirrel)

They had a workbook they did while they were there

Doing a craft

Visiting an old jail

Visiting the old Scofield school

The Skyline mine - they learned about how mining is very important in this area

The cafeteria

Learning about the ecosystem of the stream

The rope course

Watermelooooooon!
