Mike and I went for a little weekend trip to Universal Studios Orlando. This was our first time flying since Covid, and also our first time traveling through the new Salt Lake airport!
After checking into our hotel, we spent some time walking around the City Walk area
A cool plant
We had dinner at Margaritaville
and tried Voodoo Doughnuts for dessert. They were amazing!
The next day we went to Islands of Adventure
The Christmas store has this cute little porch with a bunch of cats
First stop was Hogsmeade and Hogwarts, of course
Butterbeers
This was the advisory posted at all the rides. They weren't enforcing masks, just encouraging them, so compliance was hit and miss.
The Cat in the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 - this is how they do character pictures now - the characters are in a roped off area, and you can stand in front of the rope
King Julien
We had lunch at Blondie's sandwich shop
A few of the stores had been converted to Halloween stores, which was fun
The Jurassic Park area
I tried out the new ride there, the VelociCoaster - it was pretty crazy!
Back in Hogsmeade to look in the shops
Dinner at the Three Broomsticks
It started raining like crazy, so we put on our raincoats and hustled back to the hotel as fast as we could. Mike had the backpack under his jacket to try and keep it from getting too wet. We got completely soaked and had to dry our shoes out with the hairdryer.
The next day we passed this little friend on our walk to the parks
We went to Universal Studios, and went to Diagon Alley
Nora made me this fun Deathly Hallows mask
We found a store that we hadn't been in before - Globus Mundi
I loved the travel posters they had hanging up in there
A fun clock in the clock shop window
Yummy lunch at the Leaky Cauldron
The Mummy ride is lots of fun
When we were in New York, the famous lion statues at the Library were under restoration and we weren't able to get a picture with them, so when we saw the replicas at Universal, we made sure to get a couple pictures
We popped back into the Leaky Cauldron for an afternoon treat - butterbeer potted cream, and sticky toffee pudding
Riding the Hogwarts express to Islands of Adventure
The Kong ride is really cool, and even better it doesn't give Mike motion sickness!
A cute little bunny that was hopping around in the bushes
On our last day we got a Voodoo doughnut for breakfast - this one was the maple cream
Mike can't ride the Hogwarts ride because it makes him sick, but the best part is the queue going through the castle, so we spent a lot of time looking at all the amazing details. They have an exit right before you get on the ride, so Mike could exit and I continued onto the ride.
We got to watch a performance by the frog choir
Riding the Hogwarts Express over to Universal Studios
Had to get a picture here with Mike and his London shirt, haha
Inside Gringotts
Back to the Future vehicles
We saw some dark clouds rolling in, and decided to go back to the hotel so we wouldn't get soaked for our plane ride. It started raining huge drops right when we were so close to the hotel, but we still got decently wet 😬
Passing one of my favorite things on our way out of the hotel - the little frogs with instruments
We had a lot of fun!
